September is National Preparedness Month... this year the focus is “turning awareness into action.”

FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) reminds us, “Emergencies can happen anytime and anywhere… without notice. Households, businesses and organizations should prepare in the event of an emergency causes you to be self-reliant for 3 days without utilities, electricity, or water, without access to a supermarket or local services, or maybe even without response from police, fire or rescue.”

"Are you ready?" Preparedness Expo is Sat., Sept. 14 from 10a to 4p at the Port of Camas-Washougal's Marina Park & Parker's Landing Heritage Park (24 South A Street, Washougal WA 98671). Admission is free, but we are suggesting a donation of 2 cans of food or $2 (to be donated to local food banks).

"Are you ready?" Preparedness Expo is an informational expo with a blend of local government emergency responders, private organizations, and individuals who are dedicated to disaster readiness. These people will share information on what the government may be able to do, what we as citizens need to be able to do in an emergency, and what we need to be doing TODAY to live a prepared life! The Expo will feature a number of informational booths, hands-on activities, and speakers scheduled throughout the day.
